Final Showdown
by Aaron Leatherdale

Album: The Plagues of Egypt

You took my son from me, Moses
You think you've defeated me, you think you have won
Well, I will avenge his blood with yours
You will pay

Anger has beset me on all sides, adept at all kinds of death, made from weapons that stretch raw hide and dissect until lungs dry. I'm vexed, can't you tell? I've been up all night, haven't slept, trying to understand, of all, why was my son, taken from where he was kept? Debts must be paid, rendered in blood, red from a slave. It's simply the grave that will pay him his wage. Ready my chariots, we are off, and I won't stop until his head rests on my glaive. This dead Hebrew slave.

You took my son from me, Moses
You think you've defeated me, you think you've won?
Well, I will avenge his blood with yours
You will pay in the worst way

Israelites, prepare for your end. No message to your relatives, but a few bodies I'll send. I've rounded up all my horses and men, so vast that the sea couldn't hold us within.

Where have they gone? This pillar stands tall. I can't see or hear their marching, let's continue to draw on. I will not stop until their blood paints my doors. I am God, and you're about to hear me roar!

There they are! Catch them! God of War I am, I am so matchless. Ride strong men, they have laid for themselves a trap set for fools. Watch the pools of blood spill, every Israelite must be killed

I saw Moses extending his staff, God created a path
Flight from Goshen, through the middle of the ocean
Seas divide, this is our last call
We see the water on either side like glass walls
On the dry land we tread, Red Sea sea bed
All the armies of Egypt will be dead
When the mighty partitions of water crash in
In holy fashion, judged, wheels caught in the sludge
Their chariots malfunction, this is the final junction
Where Jacob and Pharaoh part ways in the sea spray
The slaves are saved through the walls of waves
While the captains charge to their watery graves

Here I am, lost in my thoughts. Tires from my chariot are stuck in the dross. 3 million men, all gasping for breath with water on all sides, crashed from the depths. The tireless pain, the endless shame when I wept, and this is to be my last step? Clutching my neck from this torrid asphyxiation, God of Moses, you decimated a great nation.

God vindicates, in the seas He buries them
But we're the chosen people, passing through aquariums
Tidewaters frozen, return to the ocean floor
Asphyxiation decimates a nation
Horses neigh, the chariots weigh them down
This is the final showdown, shatters Pharaoh's crown, people drown
Flailing limbs, armor makes it hard for them to swim
Every chain link makes them sink, take a last drink
Cramps from treading water
Swimming with the sharks
But they don't have gills, so the H2O kills
There's water in their lungs, but this song will be sung
Great and marvelous are all the works that Yahweh has done!
I stood by the Seashore and I could see more
Bodies washing up on the beach, 3 or 4
Then 5 or 10, it was a sight to see
Goodbye, my master, we're finally free
I stood by the seashore and I could see more
Bodies washing up on the beach, 3 or 4
Then 5 or 10, it was a sight to see
Goodbye, my friend, this is the end

Pillar of cloud by day
Fire by night
This is the exodus
The great Israelite flight
Pillar of cloud by day
Fire by night
This is the exodus
Exodus, exodus
