Nightingale by Becky Ugartechea

Song Lyrics

Nightingale
by Becky Ugartechea

Album: Maranatha! Collection - Volume 3

Through the quiet night she flew
The nightingale with the haunting tune
And in my window sill she stayed
'Til the morning sent her away to rest
For the next night she would come

And as my weary mind found peace
In the songs she sang to me
The message of her melody
Was sweet but such a mystery to me

And I wonder where she learned to sing
Who gave the nightingale her wing?
And when the morning came to light
What sent the little bird to flight?

And I began to question things
The nature of created beings
Did this whole world evolve by chance?
Is it all a master plan of thought
And if so by Whom? I sought

And she led me to a mighty tree
That grew on a hill called Calvary
And at its base a tiny nest
Where the nightingale found rest

But further still an empty tomb
But not a sight of hopeless doom
But shouting forth the stone did say
"Your Prince, your King, your Joy arose today!"

And the puzzle now completely filled
To the voice of Christ my spirit thrills!
All nature now is ringing true
And the nightingale now sings to you
