Susie was just another face on the street
Trying to keep alive, stay on her feet
She was young and pretty but her dreams were stuck on the ground
In and out of love, heart kind of frail
Running through through the jungle with a tiger by the tail
Trying to hold on but it just kept slipping away
So she loaded up her world in the back of the car
Headed out west, going to be a star
But no matter where you go, you’ve got the same heart

She got what she wanted, world at her feet
A place in the city and a place on the beach
It was all right in front of her eyes and she was going to take it
But Susie just couldn’t get the pieces to fit
It seemed like her heart was a bottomless pit
And the more she got the more she needed

Well, Susie met Benny sitting in the sand
Watching the sunset and raising his hands
She thought he was crazy, but she felt something stir inside
