Album: TRIBULATION - Live
When the lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. A crescendo has been reached, and God halts every angelic expression, every whisper, every song. The elders surrounding the throne crying Holy, holy, holy are hushed momentarily. The very idea is staggering. Shh! Silence. The hand of God is raised, drawing attention away from the majestic worship rising before the throne. A divine hush from the mouth of the Supreme One. A celestial quietness. Amidst the silence, heavenly ears are poised. Listening. Waiting to hear.
What could be important enough to make God pause? Then, as if on cue, another angel steps up with an empty golden censer in his hand and stands at the altar. He was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all God's people on the golden altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand. The prayers of every generation since man first began to call on the Lord have been captured and saved. God has been collecting them.
After the offering before the throne in heaven, the angel took the censer filled with fire from the altar, and hurled it through space and time, where it landed on earth upon impact. There were peals of thunder, voices, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake. Don't be fooled. Our prayers have impact. The fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. God hears and collects them all, and in due time, those prayers explode with power. God's silence is heaven to listen. To listen to every whispered plea, every groan and cry of brokenness, every intercession for the nations. Don't lose hope in the silence.
Every spoken syllable matters to him. At the precise moment the angel will hurl toward the earth divine answers that will shake the planet. Silence in heaven shows us that God listens. When the lamb cracked open the seventh seal, a great silence filled all of heaven, penetrating everything for about half an hour.
