I was sure that we were meant to be
I wrote all my songs about him

My love was true, my love was strong
And before I knew, my love was gone
But I was writing other songs
That I still love to sing

You don't always give me what I ask for
Even when I'm crying out that I'm sure
You see what I can't see

And with that song in my heart
I went to college, following a dream
I'd already planned out my part
How I was gonna teach the world to sing

But when all my dreams had fallen short
My plans weren't working anymore
You walked me through the open doors
To the right place

Every story's different but we all know the pain
Of moments that feel like He's made a mistake
We think we know better till we look back in praise
How love in His wisdom has stood in our way

I hear the colors are amazing
And there's nothing like New England in the fall
All this beauty is surrounding
But my eyes can't see anything at all

And there were prayers that I'd be healed
But clearly that was not Your will
Still You never turn Your back on me
You give me endless ways to see
That You are good, You are good
