Haunted
by The Protest

Album: Great Lengths

Did you hear that? My hands shake at the sound.
It must be my demons coming around.
Did you see that? The sight chills to the bone I must escape this evil with what's left of my soul.
But I've become unafraid of what the darkness has to share
Because I've got a ghost of my own so my enemies beware

I am a haunted house you can hear, you can hear the screams ring out
My mind is not my own it's possessed, it's possessed by someone else
There's skeletons in the closet and noises upstairs
If you're brave enough to enter then you're in for a scare
And all evil I denounce inside this haunted house

I can feel it. The cold sets in. The hairs on my neck are beginning to stand
And I can taste it. The death in the air from where my soul was buried but has risen again
The tables set, we're expecting guest so come on in
Don't try to fight just embrace the night as your changed within'

I am a haunted house you can hear, you can hear the screams ring out
My mind is not my own it's possessed, it's possessed by someone else
There's skeletons in the closet and noises upstairs
If you're brave enough to enter then you're in for a scare
And all evil I denounce inside this haunted house

This band loves scary movies. We often have band movie nights where we will watch a couple. The idea of a haunted house has always been intriguing. We wanted to approach the haunted house in a positive light for this song. When Christ died for our sins He sent the Holy Spirit to live within us. In a way Christians are like a haunted house. We are full of secrets and "scary things", but we are also inhabited by a "ghost", the Holy Ghost, that influences our thoughts and gives us the strength to battle each day for the Lord. Like Twist of Fate this song offers change and refers to death and rebirth in Christ.
