Album: Little Towns Like Mine
as i watched my daddy fumble with his shoes and strained his eyes to
read the morning news i remember when he was superman and bullet
proof he'd come home after working hard each day work 10 hours
and drive 2 more each way and still take the time to fill my mind with
honest truth you know he used to take this world on single handed
now he can't remember where he left his glasses when did this
happen he taught me things i need to know for living like how tell a
joke and talk to women how to drive a car work real hard and tell the
truth you know he used to draw a crowd and keep 'em laughing now
he sits alone with no one else around him when did this happen you
know they say that time's a healer but it's more like a thief and this
man i've always looked up to is looking up at me he taught me more
about this life than one man ought to know. but he never taught me
how to let him go i can't let him go this morning i went by the nursing
home and he was sitting on is bedside all alone with some
photgraphs and we had some laughs for an hour or two but then
it came the time when i just had to go and he said when you
coming back soon i don't know then i kissed his face and
i walked away then i lost it and i know he's got a special place
in heaven but i don't know how i'll make here without him when
did this happen
