Song Lyrics

Thief In The Night
by Sheila Walsh

Album: Don't Hide Your Heart

I could talk for hours
But you wouldn't hear a word
Your own opinions make you blind
There will come a morning
When the sand has all run out
There will be no time to change your mind

Like a thief in the night, He will come
And there will be nowhere left you can run
You can fall with the night
Or you can rise with the Son
With the Son

Then I saw heaven open
And there was a white horse
Its rider is called Faithful and True
It is with justice that He judges
And fights His battles
His eyes were like a flame of fire
And He wore many crowns on His head
He had a name written on Him
But no one except Himself knows what it is
The robe He wore was covered with blood
His name is the Word of God

The armies of heaven followed Him
Riding on white horses
And dressed in clean white linen
Out of His mouth came a sharp sword
With which he will defeat the nations
He will rule over them with a rod of iron
And He will trample out the wine and the winepress
Of a furious anger of the Almighty God
On His robe and on His thigh
Was written the name:
King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth
The first heaven and the first earth disappeared
And the sea vanished
I heard a loud voice speaking from the throne:
Now God's home is with mankind
He will live with them
And they shall be His people
He will wipe away all tears from the eyes
There will be no more death
No more grief or crying or pain
The old things disappeared

He will come in glory, a rider in the sky
The lion and the lamb rest side by side
The children of the Kingdom
He will gather to Himself
Children of the darkness
He will leave behind

Like a thief in the night, He will come
And there will be nowhere left you can run
You can fall with the night
Or you can rise with the Son

Great Bible-filled song: God's Word won't return void (Isaiah 55). God willing, with Sheila's approval, I'll have song played at my Homecoming (there'll be lots of not yet Christians there). - Jun 2019
