There have been times
When a friend made a promise
I've watched that promise
Vanish into thin air
There have been those
That I have trusted
Who showed that my trust
Should have not been there
But don't get me wrong
I'm not pointing a finger
My word hasn't always been good
But there is still One
Who made me a promise
He is still true to His Word

He promised I would never be forsaken
And I've never seen God fail
To meet a need that I had
When my life down here is over
And my work on earth is done
I'll bow before the One who safely led
And thank Him for doing what He said

This world is filled
With trouble and turmoil
Nation fights nation
Kin against kin
And sometimes I find myself
Asking the question
Who is in charge?
Will it all ever end?
Then I remember
The sweet words of Jesus
Saying, "Child, you are never alone
For I am the One
Who spoke worlds into being
And I am still in control"
