Album: Long Awaited
The dreaded call, the tears fall
Oh the memories flood my mind again
A grandma's love, now with God above
I can't believe the time has come and gone
As a little child, I loved to play around her place
Then she'd come outside and call me home with a smile on her face
She'd say, "Hey Sugar" when I walked through the door
And in her house I was never poor
'Cause I'd feel the love that she has always shown
She'd hug me tight and say, "I've waited for you,
It's been a little while but you're right on cue,
Oh I hope you know just how much I love you."
And though the loss is hard and I feel so alone
There's something special about when God calls a grandma home
Her family, her loyalty
She's always there for anyone in need
And when I strayed, I know she prayed
She changed my life and taught me how to love
And even when I grew up and lived far away
I loved to go and see my grandma and for a while stay
She'd say, "Hey Sugar" when I walked through the door
And in her house I was never poor
'Cause I'd feel the love that she has always shown
She'd hug me tight and say, "I've waited for you,
It's been a little while but you're right on cue,
Oh I hope you know just how much I love you."
And though the loss is hard and I feel so alone
There's something special about when God calls a grandma home
I imagine my grandma at Heaven's gate
Being greeted by her Savior without a moment's wait
He will say, "Hey Sugar" when she walks through the door
And in His house she is never poor
'Cause she feels the love that God has always shown
He hugs her tight and says, "I've waited for you,
It's been a little while but you're right on cue,
Oh I hope you know just how much I love you."
And though the loss is hard and I feel so alone
There's something special about when God calls a grandma home
Oh He called my grandma home
Grammy's home.
