I teased at life as if
It were a foolish game
The way an evening
Breeze may tease a candle flame

A thousand dreams I dreamed
The splendid things I planned
I always built to last
On weak and shifting sands
I lived in the darkness
And shun the Saviours light
Oh how the years
All vanished in the night

Yesterday when I was young
So many many songs
Waiting to be sung
So many wayward pleasures
Lay in store for me
So much pain my dazzled
Eyes refused to see

I ran so fast that Time
Youth and lise ran out
I never stopped to think
What life is all about
And every conversation
I can now recall
Concerned it′s self
With me and nothing else at all

Yesterday the moon was blue
Every crazy day brought
Something new to do
I used my magic age
As if were a wand
And never saw the wast
And emptiness beyond

The game of life I played
With arrogance and pride
Every flame I lit
To quickly quickly died
The friends I made all seemed
Somehow to drift away
And only I am left on stage
To lite the flame
