Album: Manuka Honey
When you smushed that cake on my face
I didn't know that's what people did (wedding day!)
But then, you were shocked when I dropped the law
And became a musician instead (thanks, right?)
But we struggled to make it with our hearts & our purse
The journey started rough & then it got worse
We always used to say how it was keepin' us down
But we'll be married and buried in this same town
So we packed & we hit the city
And we showed 'em what we could do
Then we hit that certain age
And they said: "Now we'd like someone new."
So we headed here, & the folks took us back
Thought I'd feel ashamed, but as a matter of fact
I've been heard to say: "This is Holy Ground
And we'll be married & buried in this same town"
Eddie Popcun fixes my car
Known him since 1958
The Subaru guy was okay in Nashville
Havin' Eddie, I just feel safe
Well I love where I am, it's the Missus and me
And baby to big boy to young man makes three
Forgive if it ain't hip & I don't say with a frown:
We'll be married & buried- we'll be
Married & buried in this same town
