Looking back upon my life
And all God's brought me through
I began to ponder
On His countless attributes
And try to choose one quality
I love about the Lord
But wound up with a list of things
That I am thankful for

I'm thankful for His mercy
Making miracles and more
For the way He works His wonders
As He opens up each door
For His providence that proves
His precious promises are true
Is there anybody anywhere
Who can do what He can do?
I'm so grateful He's a God who's good
And He's good all the time
A faithful and forever friend
And He's a friend of mine
To choose one thing I'm thankful for
Would never be enough
So, I thank the Lord, for all the above

Way back when I met the Lord
I was happy as could be
Just knowing that my sins were gone
Was good enough for me
But I'm finding He's an endless treasure
Words cannot define
Now I see just what it means
To have abundant life

Oh, I'm thankful for His mercy
