When I was a child the dreams i had were big,
to run the race and win at any cost
To climb the highest mountain just for victory, savoring the sound of the applause

The echo of approval was music to my ears, but glory seemed to quickly slip away
I'd never hear the trumpet's sound till I put the cross before the crown.

So I started writing songs, I had some things to say, people joined and sang my lullabies
The crowds got big and so'd my head, I thought i had it made, but i was empty way deep, down inside
One day we all were dancing then it all faded away, I should've know to turn my ears to you

I can try to find the key, but God's the only one who can set me free

Now the time has come, though I've been slow to change desperation's led me here to you
