Album: Crimes & Consequences

1995 A.D. the number. Another summer, evening is hot, 95 degrees. No breeze for this young teen, was nine years old when he watched his pop leave. Which leaves no role model around to guide his steps. He couldn't get it right 'cause only the block was left. Five years of fatherless living amongst the shoplifter. Getting the five fingered discount at the local five and ten lifting little odds and ends. Never thought he'd have to see the inside of the pen till the fifth time he got pinched woke up from his dreams the nightmare begins. Ten years minus one for his crime. That's nine with good behavior, neighbor he did the time. Its 2004 when the let him out the prison house door but now it's him and his four boys. Met em on the inside. In for nickel and dime scams or selling nicks and dimes to the man. Now these five cats would have had nine lives and couldn't spend the next eight grinding the 9-5. Getting nine bucks an hour eight hours each day. So there's gotta be an easier way to see the pay. So lets take some time and figure out, plan for us to hook up and help ourselves out. Nine months passed and that's a lot of blunts and hash for these five young G's to pass. Till one Sunday nine o'clock, moms in his room. Said your coming with me to church, boy, Sunday school. He's thinking its worth a try, sneaks jeans and a shirt and tie. On his wrist, something cris, if you seen it it'd hurt your eyes. Arrived at the church while the preacher's preaching. Excerpts from Martin Luther's 95' thesis. And about Jesus who came to save souls. Fed five thousand heads with fish, and five loaves. Had his back whipped with that cat and nine tails then nailed to the cross with nine inch nails. But nah, he couldn't accept the blessing, distracted by his cell, he's checking his text message. "What up fam, we got a plan for this cash, the Fifth National Bank, corner of Ninth Ave. In and out in five minutes without the slightest blunder. The plan is air tight. I call it the ninth wonder." He left church and caught a ride with his man. Hopped into the stolen 95' sedan. They put him down with the five point plan. Listening to 'voice the five nine' on 95. fm. Rocking to the jams, getting high as a kite. Loading up the heat incase the guards try to fight. Couldn't even see who got behind him at the lights. Till they saw the red and blue from polive cruiser lights. Time to take flight it's the only way out. "Hell before jail." He heard the Driver yelling out. Now he's trying to remember the words from the sermon. Can't concentrate 'cause the cars steady swerving. Was it nine verse five, or chapter five verse nine? He'd listen and live different if he could rewind the time. But, it's like the button's stuck in fast forward. Bullets bucking back and forth, the car soaring ninety five miles an hour on isle ninety five. Linking shots at the cops behind him, one died. The whole city is watching this mid day cruise, live on channel nine on the five o'clock news. When it ended, it was not pretty. 5'0 pulled the nine and put five in his 59' fifty. Now there's a reason I just had to tell. 'Cause perhaps your dwell on that 95th parallel. And you're running right beside the side of that guy living life on the line, about to die on it. But if you can decide to slide with Jesus Christ. No denying hands up and put a five on it.

Now, if you take all that and add it up, you should come up with 959. Right, yeah, 'cause see. 9 x 5 is 45. 45 - you make that with a 4 and a 5. 4 + 5 = 9. 9 + 5 = 14. That's a 1 and a 4. 1 + 4 = 5. Nah, I'm just playing, but look, your life is gonna give the sum total of all the decisions you ever make so when you add it all up, what's it gonna look like? I can guarantee you this, no matter how positive your outlook, as long as your life is minus Jesus Christ the outcome is still gonna be negative.
