Song Lyrics

Christmas Lullaby
by Smalltown Poets

Album: Christmas Time Again

What lullaby shall we accord
To such a Babe as He?
Who set the pillars of the earth
And brought mankind to be
What cradle song will pacify
The burden voiced in every cry
To join His flock and for them die
What lullaby will do?

What offering befits a King
Whose coming was foretold?
Who came to suffer at our hands
Yet loved us from of old
Whom angels worship as the Christ
A little Lamb, a sacrifice
My earthly gains will scarce suffice
What offering will do?

What lullaby could we compare
To heaven's serenade?
As legions of the angelic hosts
The proclamation made
"For unto you is born this day
The One now come to make a way"
And so my soul can only praise
And offer Him my heart

What lullaby, what lullaby
What lullaby will do?
