One night an alter call was made a sinner boy astray,
Just stood there so lonely without a word to say.
Kneel down and ask forgiveness is what the preacher said,
For without another warning you may be called away.

Verse 2
Then slowly from his seat did rise a boy with tear stained eyes
He'd always be hard hearted and never afraid to die,
But now he made the sacrifice and give his heart to God.
And he stood up shouting saying thank you Lord.

Verse 3
Just a short while after before he reached his home
Death on the highway waiting to carry this young man home,
But before he died that night these last few words he called.
I want to thank you Lord for that last alter call.
