Album: Southern Steele
We live in a country that honors its heroes
By pinning medals on the chest
We honor the strongest, we honor the bravest
Those that stand out from the rest
The headlines say "Hero"
The newsmen show their footage all the time
But there's one Hero that the newsmen missed
This Hero is the greatest of all time
There was no film on the six o'clock news
Of the greatest hero
Who ever died on a foreign field for you and me
But there's an army marching on in His honor
Compelled to go by the cross of Calvary
The Soldier came from far away
He came to save His struggling army
Against all odds, He stood alone
To confront the enemy
It seemed he was outnumbered and outgunned
And the Soldier laid His life down
They took His broken body
Wrapped it in a shroud
And laid it in the ground
But that was just a battle
That was not the war
And though hell thought it was over
That Soldier wanted more
He would not be defeated
He would win for you and me
And after three days in the grave
He raised the flag of victory
There was no film on the six o'clock news
Of the greatest hero
Who ever died on a foreign field for you and me
But there's an army marching on in His honor
Compelled to go by the cross of Calvary
There's an army marching on in His honor
Compelled to go by the cross of Calvary
