Fragile Hope
by Brian Doerksen

Album: Prodigal God

THE FATHER
A storm is coming, dark clouds are gathering
Where will the lightning strike the earth?
Once wrath has thundered, who will be standing?
Or will we all be turned to dust?
Still, fragile hope remains
Perhaps he's alive
Soon I may see his face, his eyes open wide
How could I turn my back, and spurn the boy I love?
One son so careless, one son too careful
One father, powerless, alone
Who gives them freedom
Who holds back nothing
How can they not say yes to love?
So I will cling to hope, rain one day must fall
Soon I will hold them both, our honored house restored
For now, we can only wait and pray for their return
