Album: Great Lengths

Pressure consumes me acceptance alludes me. Is this how you want me to be?
Pain and affliction from all these addictions, but all I can see is the crowd
I run from disease but destruction is easy when it's all I know
I drink myself into so pain I can harness have I lost my soul?

I've got this poison filling me
It drags me down
But oh I love the way it tastes
Cause it's straight from hell
You kill me, you kill me
With every lie that you feed
You think you've got a hold on me
But I'm in control of me

I found true love when I dove into bottles
And that's all that you had to give
In my eyes you gave me all that I needed
All that I needed to live
Another line another fight another blackout night
I live in fear of the things that I love
Banished into the darkness with wounds I am tarnished
I'm lost and I need an escape

I've got this poison filling me
It drags me down
But oh I love the way it tastes
Cause it's straight from +hell
You kill me, you kill me
With every lie that you feed
You think you've got a hold on me
But I'm in control of me

his particular song is actually based on the life of a good friend of ours. This girl went through hell. She was in pain and turned to a lot of things other than God for comfort and healing. This song is about addiction and what it can do to the soul. It's a very dark song, but the cool thing is that this girl's story is redemptive! After she hit rock bottom she reached out to Christ and he changed her life. While this song is about addiction it's also about the spirit of self-control that God gives us and overcoming obstacles with the help of God. T.J. wrote the lyrics to this song and asked this young lady what it felt like when she was at her lowest point and the release she felt when she gave her addictions up to Christ. We all struggle with some kind of addiction. If it's not drugs or alcohol, its lust, cutting, or anything that takes us away from the Lord. Remember that Christ will always provide a way out.
