Rebel Static

Album: Great Lengths

Hear our static on your radio, hear our static on your radio

They told us to stay underground, but we've been hiding way too long
They tried to make us quiet down, but the line has been drawn
We're rising back up to the streets, our words affect the ones meet
It's coming in so loud and clear, sounding stronger than it has for years

Hear our static on your radio, hear our static on your radio

This is not a test. We're taking over and the airwaves are ours
You can try your best. But there is no way you can shut us down
We won't ever rest, until the whole world hears the sound
Can't stop the revolution, change is coming now

So tune into the change you feel, we're taking over this is real
Don't try to adjust your radio, the truth resounds in stereo
The chance to live lies in our words and we can't stop until we're heard
So I hope that you're ready now cause there's no way we're slowing down

Hear our static on your radio, hear our static on your radio

This is not a test. We're taking over and the airwaves are ours
You can try your best. But there is no way you can shut us down
We won't ever rest, until the whole world hears the sound
Can't stop the revolution, change is coming now

Bridge

We are the ones that make the change such sweet release
And we won't be giving in. This change you can't defeat

Hear our static on your radio, hear our static on your radio
Hear our static on your radio, hear our static on your radio

This is not a test. We're taking over and the airwaves are ours
You can try your best. But there is no way you can shut us down
We won't ever rest, until the whole world hears the sound
Can't stop the revolution, change is coming now

"Rebel Static" is about a new generation rising up and that is unashamed of the gospel, who are bold and strong in faith with a goal to reach others by any means necessary. This song is a rebellion song calling those on fire for the Lord to rebel against what the world says and what the enemy says as well. When this song was written, I imagined us living in a nation strictly controlled by "Big Brother" if you will, much like the Orson Wells classic 1984. I imagined that Christianity was banned and forced underground, but there is group of "rebels" who are unafraid and take over the radio waves with a broadcast of truth and the freedom of a life in Christ. I get pumped thinking about this generation of Christians that we are in.
