as a boy on sunday i could be found at that little church on the edge
of town where we sang 'amazing grace' momma and daddy were
young back then i can still recall sitting down with them to have
dinner on the grounds i can still see grandpa there as he led us all in
prayer now i look inside of me and i go through my memories
and i'll fly away to that first baptist church of yesterday they don't
make 'em like that no more concrete steps and a hardwood floor
built on an old a-frame our new church has really changed we got
coffee bars and tv screens but my good book's still the same when
i close my eyes in prayer my mind still drifts back there where i look
