How all kinds of creatures upon this land
Have been tamed by man
But our tongue can't

It's to our shame
That the tongue can't be tamed

When words fly away from our tongue
Like bullets fired from the end of a gun
We wish that we could somehow
Bring them back again
But can't undo them

No it's too late then
We can't undo them
Once they leave our tongue
The damage is done

We place the bit in the horse's mouth
A tiny rudder turns the big ship about
But show me a man who can put the fire out
That careless words start
No one can

Sticks and stones may break my bones
Or so I think the saying goes
But careless words wound the heart of a friend
We can't undo them
