Patience

Album: Outlive

There is a solace
A reason divine
Beneath the wreckage of the words we said
In my delusion
You'd open your eyes
But that's a reasonless want of the dead

So tired of failing
Trying to filter these lines
I'm over the reeling
You should pray for...

Patience
Starting with me
No guarantee of the high road
Face it
You're starting to bleed
Caught in the teeth of a real life threat

You are the rope
The crippling coil
Around the neck of every chance we were
And I refuse
To lie here in wait
And see the room begin to fade and blur

So tired of failing
Trying to filter these lines
I'm over the reeling
You should pray for...

Patience
Starting with me
No guarantee of the high road
Face it
You're starting to bleed
Caught in the teeth of a real life threat

Patience
Starting with me
No guarantee of the high road
Face it
You're starting to bleed
Caught in the teeth of a real life threat

Patience
Starting with me
No guarantee of the high road
Face it
You're starting to bleed
Caught in the teeth of a real life threat

"The melody for Patience came to me early one morning while driving. Nearly every vocal melody or guitar riff on any DH record was conceived while alone in my truck. I've realized it's the only time that I'm able to sit, focus, and contemplate for long periods of time without distraction.

I've always considered myself to be a patient individual. But in recent years I regularly find myself at the very edge of my breaking point. There are many times that my patience has kept me from doing or saying something regrettable and I consider that a virtue. But there are also moments that I feel I've been too patient. I tend to let things roll off my back. This can be freeing, but it has its own consequences. These days, I'm trying to react in a more communicative manner. I can hone my patience when need be, but I'm more conscious that I have a choice."

the intro to Patience' reminds me of a Rich Mullins song on his Jesus Record (the album from which one of my other old favorite songs, 'MyDeliverer' is on...) - Oct 2020

This song talks to me in a lot of ways. - Jun 2019
